Ref  JY1  13th Century Stirrup Ring

The simple and elegant stirrup-shaped ring was popular in Europe from the 12th to the 15th centuries. This high carat gold stirrup ring, from the 13th century, is set with a cabochon sapphire in a rub-over setting. It is size P [US 7 and 1/2] and can be sized. Pleasingly, it has retained its original cabochon sapphire. For similar examples, see Oman's British Rings, Plate 15.
