Ref  PD6  Napoleon Cannon Pendant

A rare seditious pendant, French Restoration period, circa 1820, only the second example I have seen in 35 years. The Bourbon Restoration was the period in French history from the fall of Napoleon to the July Revolution of 1830.
This three colour high carat gold Palais-Royal pendant is in the form of a cannon, with turquoise embellishments. When pressed, an upright figure of Emperor Napoleon 1st [in classic pose with crossed arms] is propelled from the cannon. The pendant measures just under one inch by 2/3 of an inch. The shopping arcades of the Palais-Royal in Paris were patronised by the nobility and the gentry. In its exclusive shops one could purchase exquisitely designed, precision made items and amusements, such as this drole pendant. Boom!
