Georgian paste navette ring
A rather luscious Georgian navette ring, French, circa 1780. The tapering gold shank supports a head set with vivid Bristol blue glass and colourless black dot paste in foiled silver settings. The precision of the calibre cutting and the elegant proportions of this ring demonstrate the heights reached by makers of paste jewellery in Paris before the Revolution of 1789. The ring is size N and 1/2 [US 6 and 3/4] and the head of the ring measures 1 and 1/4 inches by 3/4 of an inch. Vibrant colours and immaculate.
