Luscious Wild rose diamond pendant, circa 1840. In the Victorian era flowers were used to deliver messages in a form of silent dialogue. In ancient mythology the Wild rose was a powerful symbol of love and adoration. It was associated with Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love, who was often portrayed wearing a crown of roses. The pendant is 18 carat gold and set with very bright old-cut diamonds in both closed and open backed settings. It also has a detachable brooch fitting and contains approximately 2 and 3/4 carats of old-cut diamonds in total. The pendant measures one inch by one inch and is in a fitted case. Very fine quality and immaculate. Such a gorgeous thing.
