Tabby cat

A reverse intaglio carving of a tabby cat set to a 15 carat gold pendant, circa 1900. The technique of reverse intaglio crystal carving required great skill, first carving out a domed rock crystal in intaglio and then painting the carving in fine detail. The effect achieved is photo-realistic. The pendant, originally a stickpin, measures 2/3 of an inch by 2/3 of an inch and is beautifully carved and immaculate.
