Ever thine if thou once mine
A high carat gold posy hoop, circa 1680 – 1700, inscribed to interior with the amatory motto : Ever thine if thou once mine, with a maker’s mark. A choice of ‘pretty posies’ for rings was offered to 17th century readers in a publication entitled : Love’s Garland; or Posies for Rings, Handkerchiefs and Gloves, and Such Pretty Tokens as Lovers Send Their Love. This motto means : ‘this ring is yours forever if you will be mine’. This posy ring is size Q and 1/2 [US 8 and 1/4] and is in fine and wearable condition.
