Georgian repoussé gold earrings
A pair of high carat gold Georgian repoussé gold earrings, circa 1830. Repoussé was a gold working technique where the design was created by hammering the malleable gold from reverse to create the design. These articulated earrings have scallop shell motifs to top and bottom and the hammered gold is overlaid with cannetille floral motifs. The earrings are 2 and 1/4 inches long and 1/2 an inch wide across the bottom shell-shaped sections. As light as a feather on the ear and immaculate.
