Georgian table-cut diamond hoop
I love the understated simplicity of these early Georgian mourning hoops. This one, dated 1729, is for a child aged 8. It has a gold ribbed shank supporting a central table-cut rock crystal compartment containing strands of blonde hair, flanked by table-cut diamonds, foiled and set silver. The ring has a reeded back. It is engraved to interior : Sam Crooke aet 8 1729. The ring is size K and 1/2 [US 5 and 3/8] and immaculate.
