Portuguese chrysoberyl

Portuguese chrysoberyl ring

An imposing Portuguese chrysoberyl ring circa 1780, converted from a brooch to a ring. The high carat gold tapered shank supports a head set with vibrant and perfectly colour matched sea-green chrysoberyl in foiled, closed back settings. The gems are close set to allow the maximum light to be drawn from the stones. There is typically Portuguese gold bead detail to the surround. The ring is size O [US 7] and the head of the ring measures 1 and 3/4 inches by 1 and 1/3 inches. Gloriously vibrant colour, immaculate.
