The flower’s decision

The flower’s decision

A silver and enamel spinning top charm, circa 1900, based on the French game, L’effeuiller la marguerite, [he loves me, he loves me not]. A person playing the game alternately speaks the phrases, “He  loves me,” and “He loves me not,” whilst plucking a petal off a daisy. The last petal left dictates the true level of affection. The spinner is inscribed:

Il m’aime – he loves me
un peu – a little
beaucoup – a lot
passionment – passionately
pas du tout – not at all.

It is one inch long and immaculate.
