A fine quality Regency mourning ring dated 1835. The elaborate 18 carat gold ring shank with floral and foliate design supports a head set with a plaque of black enamel surmounted by an old-cut diamond. To interior a comprehensive set of hallmarks for London 1835 and the inscription : Souvenir de Viscountess de Tagoahy. Viscountess de Tagoahy was Isabel Sill Bezarra, widow of J. Paulo Bezarra, Prime Minister to John IV of Portugal. She died at her London home in 1835. The ring is size O and 1/2 [US 7 and 1/4] and in immaculate condition.
