Georgian moss agate earrings

Elegant and ethereal articulated Georgian moss agate earrings, circa 1820. The best Georgian agate jewellery utilised fine translucent slivers of faceted agate which allowed light to shine through and reveal the endless colour variations in the stones. The agates resembled  landscapes. These moss agate earrings are high carat gold and ‘day and night’ in that the tops can be removed and worn separately. They are 3 and 1/4 inches long and 3/4 of an inch wide across the drop. Immaculate and as light as a feather on the ear. For an almost identical pair see page 53 in Georgian Jewellery.
