French jet bird in flight

A rather extraordinary French jet hair comb ornament, circa 1840. It depicts a bird in flight with outstretched wings and a beady glass eye. The bird itself excluding comb attachment measures three inches by two inches and is immaculate. Quite the Victorian Gothic.
