A gentleman of substance

A very finely executed portrait miniature ring circa 1790. The high carat gold tapered shank supports a compartment with a watercolour miniature of a gentleman of substance, under crystal. He wears a navy frock coat with falling collar , a red waistcoat and a lace stock. He has a powdered wig en queue with his hair beribboned and faces the viewer with a direct gaze. The ring is size J [US 4 and 5/8] and the head of the ring measures 1 and 1/4 inches by 3/4 of an inch. A very competent miniature, an immaculate ring.
