Victorian amethyst rivière

Pretty 9 carat gold rivière set with amethysts, circa 1890. Rivière in jewellery referred to a necklace of uniformly set gems that flowed around the neck. This one is set with violet amethysts in cut-down, open backed settings. It is 16 inches long and the gems graduate in size from 1/2 an inch to 1/3 of am inch front centre to 1/4 of an inch by 1/4 of an inch next to the amethyst clasp. Fine quality and immaculate.
