Arts and Crafts ruby and moonstone pendant

An imposing Arts and Crafts ruby and moonstone pendant, set silver, circa 1900. The Arts & Crafts movement was a transformative force in the decorative arts.  Emerging in the late 19th century, it marked a pivotal shift in society’s approach to craftsmanship, reacting against industrialisation and mass produced jewellery. The movement rethought the way jewels were designed and made, emphasising simplicity, handcrafted jewellery, using natural gems especially in cabochon form and traditional techniques. This Arts and Crafts pendant is set with large cabochon perfectly colour matched translucent blue moonstones and natural rubies. It measures 2 inches by 1.5 inches and is fine quality and immaculate.
