Mr Charles Chisholm

Fine quality mourning portrait miniature ring, dated 1779. The high carat gold engraved shank supports a compartment set with a watercolour miniature of  young Charles, a gentleman of substance. He is fashionably attired in a scarlet-red jacket, blue brocade waistcoat and a tied white stock. He wears a powdered wig en queue. The portrait is under crystal and within a surround of foiled topaz. To reverse are the details of his young demise : Charles Chisholm ob. 29 Sept. 1779 ae. 36. The ring is size P [US 7 and 1/2] and the head of the ring measures one inch by 3/4 of an inch. A beautifully executed portrait miniature, a beautiful ring.
