Essex crystal cat pendant

A reverse intaglio crystal of a silver tabby cat set to a high-carat gold pendant, circa 1900. The technique of reverse intaglio crystal carving required great skill, first carving out a domed natural rock crystal in intaglio and then painting the carving in fine detail. The effect achieved is photo-realistic and the subject appears to be trapped within the crystal.The pendant measures one inch by 3/4 of an inch. Beautifully executed and immaculate.
