Georgian amethyst half hoop
Fine quality 18 carat gold cannetille ring, circa 1820. Cannetille is an intricate gold wirework technique that was popular during the late Georgian period. The scrolling and ornate shapes formed by working gold wire were inspired by 18th century embroidery found on peasant garments. Cannetille was a delicate, labour intensive process. This cannetille ring is set with pink hued amethysts in foiled and closed back settings. It is size O and 1/2 [US 7 and 1/4]. Such a pretty Georgian ring in immaculate condition.
