Diamond poissardes
Sweet Georgian diamond poissarde hoop earrings, circa 1820. Poissarde means fishwife and refers to the style of earrings worn by the wives of fishermen selling the daily catch in Les Halles. Poissarde hoops had back to front fittings that resembled a fish hook. These poissardes are high carat gold and set with old-cut diamonds in closed back silver settings. They are one inch in length and immaculate.
