Georgian gold long chain

There is no item more distinctly Georgian than a long gold chain joined end to end with a decorative clasp. This is a very fine quality 18 carat gold long chain, circa 1820. It is comprised of textured lozenge links alternating with textured belcher style links, with an elaborate stylised double serpent head clasp set with turquoise. Chains with intricate links like this could take weeks to make. This chain weighs 35 grams and is 40 inches long – so it is long enough to be worn doubled up or as a single long chain. Beautiful Georgian gold work, immaculate condition.
