Georgian topaz

Georgian Imperial topaz and pink topaz ring

A rather fabulous example of a late 18th century topaz ring.. A possible origin of the name topaz comes in the form of the Sanskrit word ‘tapaz’, which means ‘fire’ and fire is evident in the gems in this ring. The high carat gold ribbed shank supports a head set with a large marquise-shaped golden Imperial topaz  and a large marquise-shaped pink topaz within a surround of rose-cut diamonds, set silver. All gems are in foiled and closed back settings. The weight of each topaz is approximately 4.5 carats. The ring is size N [US 6 and 1/2] and the head of the ring is 1 and 2/3 inches in length and 1/3 of an inch wide. A luscious, one-off ring in completely original and immaculate condition.
