Omens of good luck
A diamond pendant depicting good luck symbols, circa 1900 It is 18 carat gold and silver and set with old-cut and rose-cut diamonds. The house martin has a ruby eye. House martins, like other swallows, were seen as symbols of good luck, happiness and the arrival of spring Their presence, especially when nesting on a house, was traditionally associated with positive omens of protection and prosperity. The inverted horseshoe was believed to shower good luck upon those passing underneath.The pendant measures 1 and 1/4 inches by 3/4 of an inch and is bright and immaculate.
