Iris tiara

Iris Tiara

A fine quality silver paste bandeau tiara, circa 1890, in the form of an iris. The iris in the Victorian language of flowers symbolised innocence and purity. The tiara has a gold wash back and is set with bright colourless paste in closed back settings. It is 2 and 3/4 inches tall and 3 and 1/4 inches wide. The tiara fitting is detachable so it can also be worn as a necklace the other way up. Immaculate condition.
