Portuguese dahlia illustrated in ‘Georgian Jewellery’

A luscious Portuguese brooch, circa 1780, in the form of a dahlia, the flower symbolising elegance and grace. It is silver and set with flamingo pink topaz, golden Imperial topaz and sea-green chrysoberyl in foiled and closed back settings. The brooch is illustrated on page 141 of the iconic publication, ‘Georgian Jewellery’. It measures 1 and 1/3 inches by 1 and 1/3 inches. As stunningly rich and vibrant in colour as the day it was made. These iconic pieces will only came my way once.
