Queen Anne opaline paste

A  ‘Queen Anne’ choker necklace, circa 1760, set with faceted vibrant opaline paste over cerise foil in closed back gilt settings. Paste jewellery emerged as a highly sophisticate parallel art in the 18th century. Here the shimmering beauty of the opal is emulated by setting cerise pink foil beneath milky blue glass. The necklace is 10 inches long and 2/3 of an inch wide. As the necklace has ribbon fittings it will fit a neck of any size. It is rare to find any Queen Anne opaline paste today, especially a full necklace. Gorgeous colour and immaculate.
