17th century skull ring

A high carat gold hoop deeply incised with a skull and dated 1678. It is inscribed to interior with the details of the deceased : Maudley Sambourne, Feb 78. The ring’s lovely original patina remains intact. The ring is size M and 1/2 [US 6 and 1/4] and in sturdy and most wearable condition.
