Souvenir

Fine quality French love token circa 1780 -1800, in the form of a ring spelling ‘souvenir’ for souvenir d’amour. The high carat gold shank supports a compartment with a cobalt blue glass ground surmounted by the word ‘souvenir’ in fret-cut gold letters, within a surround of tiny pearls and under a domed crystal. The ring is size M and 1/2 [US 6 and 1/4] and the head of the ring measures 1 and 1/2 inches and 3/4 of an inch. Such an elegant and refined ring, in immaculate condition.
