Stuart crystal memento mori slide

A high carat gold Stuart crystal memento mori slide, circa 1680. The slide contains a compartment with a weave of hair surmounted by two golden cherubs holding aloft an enamel skull device above the gold wirework initials WB. The compartment is covered with faceted rock crystal and the gold slide has the saw-teeth edging typical of slides of this period. The original slide fittings are intact and the gold pendant fitting is later. The slide measures 3/4 of an inch by 2/3 of an inch and is in crisp and immaculate condition.
