A pair of 15 carat gold earrings in the Etruscan Revival style, circa 1870. Etruscan Revival pieces were crafted from rich, warm, yellow gold with a soft, matte finish. They featured intricate patterns of granulation made from tiny soldered balls of gold. Common themes included mythological figures and classical geometric framing. The style peaked during the mid to late 19th century as part of a broader ‘Archaeological Revival’ inspired by Grand Tours and excavations in Italy. These earrings have three articulated torpedo drops suspended from cherub head tops. They are two inches long and 1/2 an inch wide at their widest point. Light on the ear, in original fitted case and immaculate.
